Over £1600 raised for Stripey Stork

On Thursday 23rd June we were fortunate enough to play host to local charity, Stripey Stork’s, annual quiz night. We say annual, of course, but the past 2 years have seen the evening cancelled due to the emergence of Covid-19 and the rather large matter of an international pandemic. Nevertheless, the 2 year hiatus only helped build the excitement as we welcomed the team back again.

Exactly 100 guests took their seats for the quiz, dressed top to tail in stripes to support the charity’s annual campaign, Stripes 4 Stripey. Made up of supporters, volunteers and the team at Stripey Stork, the room was filled to the brim, creating a fantastic atmosphere. Questions on geography, British history, music, tv and more, challenged the teams through 8 separate rounds, ending with one team triumphant. The Belfry Brainiacs. Congratulations to them!

Regardless of who won, a huge thank you is needed not just to the winners but to everyone who came along, organised and helped raise an incredible £1600! Money that will be put to good use, supporting local families in Surrey. No doubt, the team at Stripey Stork will be back again next year.

Reigate Manor Retain Top Food Hygiene Rating

Reigate Manor are delighted to announce that they have retained their 5 star food hygiene rating.

In December 2008 the Food Standards Agency agreed a National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. It is now running in all areas of Wales, Northern Ireland and in 99% of England.

The food hygiene rating scheme is designed to ensure that businesses that are broadly compliant with food law and are managing food safety risks will receive a rating of three and those who are managing the risk well will receive a rating of four or five. However, significant lapses in any of the scoring criteria can also have a significant effect on the rating.

Receiving a 5 star rating is by no means easy. So we must give a huge well done to Head Chef Will and his team for all their hard work in achieving this rating. Congratulations!

As ‘Normal’ Returns

Dear all,

On Monday we received the news that our entire industry has been waiting to hear since March 2020. The nearest thing to ‘normal’ conditions are returning as of Monday 19th July and many of the restrictions imposed over the past 15 months will be removed.

Therefore masks will no longer be required to walk around the hotel, although still advised in crowded spaces. Social distancing and the rule of 6 will no longer be enforced, meaning larger tables from unlimited households are now a possibility in our restaurant. You are now also welcome to grab drinks directly from the bar as we are no longer restricted to just table service. Something I know our food & beverage team will be thrilled about.

It has not escaped my attention, however, that many will be moving at different paces as we slowly return to ‘normal’. Therefore we ask that everyone continues to show the same care and respect to each other that we’ve seen from you all throughout the pandemic. We ourselves will be keeping the additional hand sanitiser stations and protective screens around all our hotels and giving our staff the choice as to whether or not they wish to wear a mask.

Without bringing the mood down, covid-19 is still very much among us. And although brighter skies are certainly ahead, we will continue to show caution and consideration to everyone no matter how they decide to move forward from the past year.

Thank you again for all your support and I look forward to seeing you back with us very soon.

Giles Thomas
Operations Director

Bedroom Refurbishments at Reigate Manor

We are delighted to say our Manor Suite at Reigate Manor has had a well-needed refurbishment.

Both rooms 401 and 415 have been cleared out and completely transformed this summer, with new wallpaper, mirrors, lighting and more. You will, however, still find our traditional 4 poster bed in room 401. Something I’m sure many will be delighted to hear.

Both rooms are now available to book directly through our website or over the phone.
